UNITY CHURCH OF METAIRIE will again sponsor our "Annual Teddy Bear Project" for 2007 Christmas season. Teddy Bears, and other stuffed animals, have started gathering in the sanctuary.  December 23rd we will deliver approximately 90 “bears and friends” to St. Anthony's Nursing Home.  From October to December the "bears" are held and loved, filled with the affirmation of Divine Energy of Love, Healing, and Joy that positively impacts the individual receiving the "bear". Consider donating bears in lieu of sending gifts to family and friends, and send a note explaining our "Teddy Bear Project". The smiles, the joy, and even the tears on those dear ones receiving "bears" is demonstration of our affirmation to share Divine Energy of Love, Healing, and Joy. “Thank you” as we anticipate a "beary successful" season.

UNITY CHURCH OF METAIRIE regularly collects items for the women and children at Metropolitan Women's Shelter.In past years it has been everything from toiletries and personal hygiene items, to clothes and luggage. For the Christmas 2007 season we are collecting gift cards, phone cards, cell phones, and toiletries. Our collections and donations are based on the needs and requests identified by the staff. The Metropolitan Women's Shelter is a program in our community to assist women and children that have been forced from their homes often in crisis situations, leaving without notice or the opportunity to gather personal effects. Thank you for supporting this Unity in the CommUNITY activity.


UNITY CHURCH OF METAIRIE also supports Second Harvest Food Bank. For the 2007 Holiday Season we will again donate nonperishable food items, checks, and grocery store gift cards in support of this commUnity based organization.

The Board of Trustee's for UNITY CHURCH OF METAIRIE also made the decision to make a donation each month to an organization in our community that provides a service to our greater community. In 2007 we have donated to: Covenant House, Louisiana SPCA, and IAHV (International Alliance for Human Values). NOAH (New Orleans Adolescent Hospital, InterFaith Communications Council, Via Link/211, Project Lazarus, Friends of JP Animal Kitty Fostering Shelter, Second Harvest Food Bank, Common Ground, Good Samara tin, STAIR (Start the Adventure in Reading), Creative Arts for Healing, The People Program, and the Salvation Army of New Orleans Women’s and Children’s Shelter.

UNITY CHURCH OF METAIRIE is a tithing church.  We tithe to: Silent Unity, a Unity Ministerial Student, The Association of Unity Churches, Int., and SouthEast Region Unity Ministries.
